A Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Notice has been served upon the owners of The Kings Lodge Hotel Bar and Restaurant in Hunton Bridge, by Three Rivers District Council. Watford Magistrates Court confirmed the subsequent Prohibition Order on Tuesday January 22.
A violent man under the influence of drugs and alcohol who attacked his partner was last month jailed for two years. The 31-year-old, of Hazelwood Lane, Abbots Langley, lost his temper and attacked his female partner, leaving her with severe bruising around her face in what was not the first, but the second attack in what can only be described as a hot-tempered relationship.
Abbots Langley tennis star Amanda Elliott got off to the perfect start in 2008 after winning the first woman’s British tour title in Birmingham last month. The 18-year-old player beat Olivia Scarfi of South Wales 6-0 7-6 in the tournament’s final having breezed past Dorset’s Michelle Farley 6-1 6-1 in the quarter-finals, before defeating Jessica Ren 6-1 7-5 in the semi-finals.

For those residents who have lived in Abbots for years, the name Fred Dobson may ring a bell. Fred was a well known character around the village that used to own the shop now known as Desire & Design. Before his sad passing four years ago he made a DVD on Abbots Langley.
