A drug dealer that My Abbots reported on a few months ago has been ordered to pay £11,000 or face eight months in prison. Matthew Bedford, 23, of Kindersley Way, was found to have around a kilo of cannabis in his room and £4,000 in cash. This was found after a search warrant was executed in March last year, with police also finding other evidence of drug dealing, including scales and a list of names.
Pupils, parents and teachers breathed a sigh of relief last month after the new pedestrian crossing on Hazelwood Lane was finally completed. The crossing has been in the pipeline for the last few years, but due to a number of issues, was delayed time and time again.
The Abbots Langley Community Centre renewal fund received a £12,500 boost last month when it was given a cheque for that amount by the charitable organisation A Heart for Abbots Langley.
Young people and pensioners are among those expected to benefit from the District Council budget announced on Tuesday, 19 February. An increase in key services with a zero per-cent rise in the District Council component of Council Tax for the coming financial year (2008/09) has been made possible in part by efficiency savings of £1,175,000.
