VALUATION DAY AT VELVET

Following the success of the October Opal festival, Velvet Jewellers are pleased to host their first Valuation day where customers can bring along their jewellery or watches. Diane Owen a specialist from 'The Guild of Valuers and Jewellers' will be available from 9.30am to 5.00pm on Friday 7th March 2008.Diane Owen is a registered valuer, Diane has been in the jewellery business all her working life, and studied at the Gemmological Institute of America and the American Gem Society before coming to Britain in 1990.

She has worked as a retail store manager and an independent valuer and joined the Guild of Valuers & Jewellers expert team in 2005 with over 20 years’ valuing experience. Diane will cast her expert eye over your treasured items and will provide a written detailed description, digital photographs of each item together with documentation for your insurance company, this information is vital to ensure that you have the correct insurance cover in place which reflects current market values. Once the valuation is complete the information can be stored on the Guild's secure national database e-register which uses a unique reference numbering system to protect your identity. Diane will also be able to offer advice on what to do should an item be lost or stolen. Insurance claims supported by an up-to-date professional valuation are usually more straightforward and often result in a quicker and much more satisfactory outcome. Appointments are limited so we advise to book early and due to demand a maximum of five items can be valued on the day although further items may be brought along and will be returned with their full valuation within the Guild's normal time span of 5 - 10 days. A small deposit will be taken when an appointment is booked and this will then be offset against the cost of your valuation. Valuations start at £49.95 and increase in increments of £10.00 depending on the overall value of your jewellery, a full price list can be viewed in store.
