‘ABBOTS LANGLEY REMEMBERED’ BY FRED DOBSON DVD LAUNCHED

For those residents who have lived in Abbots for years, the name Fred Dobson may ring a bell. Fred was a well known character around the village that used to own the shop now known as Desire & Design. Before his sad passing four years ago he made a DVD on Abbots Langley.

Fred was born and bred in the area and always had a story to tell, which is why he made this DVD, available to buy at Desire and Design. The DVD was complied in the year 2000 to celebrate the new Millennium and is a fascinating historical lecture about Abbots Langley. Fred’s shop was a focal point of the village, attracting people during its times as a hairdresser, sweet shop and finally an antiques shop. Owner of Desire & Design, Lisa, told My Abbots: “The DVD is a two disc edition and every copy sold will see £1 go to the scouts, as this was a group Fred was heavily involved with. My Abbots Editor Nik Allen received a copy of the DVD to look over, and was straight away engrossed by the content Fred covers. He said: “As someone who is fairly new to the village I found the DVD absorbing. “Fred certainly has a story or two to tell and it’s great to see how Abbots has changed through the years. “For anyone who is new to the village and wants to learn a bit about how this area has developed, this is a must have for anyone.” So what are you waiting for Abbots residents, the DVD is available for £15.95, it is almost two hours long, and can be purchased from Desire & Design.
