A violent man under the influence of drugs and alcohol who attacked his partner was last month jailed for two years. The 31-year-old, of Hazelwood Lane, Abbots Langley, lost his temper and attacked his female partner, leaving her with severe bruising around her face in what was not the first, but the second attack in what can only be described as a hot-tempered relationship.
In a confusing twist, St Albans Crown Court heard that the female victim was in fact trying to support the Abbots man and wanted to get back together with him. Prosecutor Geoffrey Porter said the attack happened in June last year after the man had taken a large amount of cocaine and had consumed alcohol. The Abbots Langley man appeared for sentence having pleaded guilty to causing actual bodily harm to his partner, having also had a previous conviction for causing actual bodily harm against her in 2005. He punched her in the face and threatened to kill her if she called the police. The court was told how the man had a conviction for ABH to a previous partner other convictions for possession of a firearm, drugs, theft and robbery. Judge Stephen Warner told the court that the when the man lost his temper, he was violent. He told the defendant that: “These were extremely unpleasant facial injuries. Violence of this sort in a domestic context is a serious offence. It is fortunate no irreparable physical damage has been done." The man was given an extended four year license period, which will mean he is monitored for that time by probation officers at the end of his two year sentence |
