ABBOTS YOUTH REPRESENT HERTS

ImageFive players from Abbots Youth Under-15s have been picked to represent the Herts FA Schools to show off their skills and ability. George Jarvis, Josh Rose, Jordan Deverrick (Kings Langley School), Tom Bambury (Astley Cooper School) and George Hobson (Parmiter’s) all represent Abbots Youth Yellows and have reached the final of the East England Schools Football Association (EESFA) competition with Herts FA Schools and will take on Kent.
Josh, Tom and George also represented the county at under 14 level where they beat Essex in last year’s final. This season George and Jordan have made the 18-man squad, bringing the total to five Abbots Youth players to receive County honours this season. As part of the EESFA competition, Herts had to play four group games which came against Inner London, Bedford, Suffolk and Norfolk. Two wins and two draws were enough to see them through to the semi-final where they took on Essex. A 2-2 draw meant the game went to extra time and then the dreaded penalties. Fortunately, Herts held their nerve and came through the shootout victorious, 3-1, to setup the final with Kent. Manager of Abbots Youth, Paul Deverrick told My Abbots that the club is extremely proud of the boys’ achievements and hopes that they can now go all the way in the competition. He said: “The whole club is extremely proud of the lads because they made sacrifices to get where they want to be. “They conduct themselves well, are doing well at school and work hard every week.” One bit of sad news is that George Jarvis is currently injured and may miss the final. Fingers crossed his injury clears up so he can take his place against Kent.
