A four-month covert police operation resulted in 19 people being arrested for drugs and handling stolen property offences across Watford on the morning of Wednesday May 21 and a 20th arrest on the morning of Thursday May 22.
Of the 20 arrested, 14 were charged and remanded and were due before Hemel Hempstead Magistrates Court. A 26-year-old man from Abbots Langley was arrested on the morning of May 22nd on suspicion of supplying Class A drugs and two counts of handling stolen property. Inspector Phil Moss, who co-ordinated the operation, said: “This was an intelligence-led covert operation targeting drug dealers and those people who deal in acquisitive crime including shoplifting, burglary and vehicle crime. "Drug dealing goes hand in hand with acquisitioned crime. We are not only targeting the dealers, we also targeted the handlers. “This has undoubtedly caused large disruption to these markets within Watford and we will continue to keep the pressure on so that no-one fills this gap. "I'd like to reassure the community that we do act on the information you give us and are working very hard - often covertly - to make sure you live in a safer environment.”
