Tough Ten Committee
Tough Ten Committee
Breakspeare School played host to the Abbots Langley Tough Ten  presentation night last month, which sees proceeds of the annual event distributed to deserving beneficiaries. The main recipient of the night was a man well known around the local area, Pete Nash.  My Abbots has kept readers up to date with Pete’s progress over the last few months as he continues to receive treatment to remove an AVM from his brain.

The Abbots Tough Ten donated a generous £6,000 to the Pete Nash fund, which will go towards the costs of Pete’s care.  Other worthy causes which received donations included Abbots Langley JMI School, which received £500 to put towards a new adventure      playground.  West Herts Against Crime received £250 to help fund security for the older and more vulnerable members of the community.  The Friends of SW Herts Samaritans, represented by Nick Horsfield, also received a donation of £250, whileThe Monday Club, a club for mentally and physically disabled people, received the same amount.  Finally, the hosts themselves, Breakspeare School, received a cheque for £250 to purchase items off of their wish list. John Reid, Chairman of the Tough Ten committee, thanked all those who participated and helped out in organising what was a very successful event.  The committee were very pleased by the number of local children that entered.  He also gave a special mention to main sponsor Martyn Ginder for his continued support, the Parish Council, Abbots Red Cross, My Abbots and many others. This years Tough Ten will be on Sunday 7th October and will be the 25th Anniversary of the race. People are reminded that this year’s event will take place on Sunday 7th October and it is hoped that all those who played a part in 2006, will do their bit again for 2007.
