A local gymnastics team came away with medals galore recently after entering a competition in Suffolk.
Dolphina Gymnastic club, who train at the Watford Woodside Leisure Centre, entered the competition in Bury St Edmonds at the end of last month, with a number of its members coming away with gold medals.
The county level four and five team friendly competition saw Dophina enter two teams, A and B aged from ten to 14, into the seven team level four contest.
Team A was made up of Ellie Taylor, Hope Wallis, Alice Denham and Aimee McShannon whilst the B team was made up of Hayley Morgan, Katie Stevens, Lauren Roffe and Ashleigh Wright.
The A team proved that they were a cut above the rest after triumphing with a gold medal, while the B team were unlucky to gain a medal, narrowly missing out on the bronze by 0.5 points.
There were also individual triumphs among the club, as Hope Wallis took the overall gold medal for the individual competition, with Ashleigh Wright taking the bronze medal.
In the Level 5 competition, Dolphina entered one team, made up of Lois Johnston, Megan Samuel, Pheobe McShannon and Jessica McArevey.
Again all the gymnasts performed well and they took the bronze medal.
Head coach and founder of Dolphina, Karen Butler, was delighted with her team’s performance and praised the hard work they all put in.
She told My Abbots News: “All the girls trained really hard leading up to the competition and performed extremely well on the day and did the coaches proud.”
Dolphina Gymnastics Club was founded in 1991 and trains at Watford Leisure Centre, Horseshoe Lane.
