PARISH COUNCIL SETS PRECEPT
ImageAbbots Langley Parish Council has raised its council tax precept by around seven per cent on last year after it agreed a sum of £546,000 for the upcoming financial year. The agreed amount will mean that owners of a typical Band E property in the village will pay £66.80 towards their overall tax bill per year.
The council’s precept will go towards the maintenance of local facilities such as its community halls, allotments and playing fields. Chairman of the council’s finance committee, Councillor Keith Williams, revealed at the meeting that part of the money would be going towards the play area on Lemonfield Drive. He said: “We want people to know that money will be invested into local areas and facilities and one of those projects is the play area on the Lemonfield Estate. As part of this, Three Rivers District Council has agreed to match our contribution of £22,000.” Residents will be aware that a further £25,000 had already been set aside from the upcoming precept to support the refurbishment of the local community centre. Local societies and groups may also be interested to hear that an extra £12,000 has been made available for grants. Councillor Sara Bedford said at the meeting: “I still think that this amount is good value for money.”
