WATER SHORTAGE IN ABBOTS ?

A recent meeting between parish councillors has revealed that the water infrastructure in Abbots Langley is inadequate to keep up with the growing population. It is reported that there is enough water to supply the current crop of people within the parish, but with the government expecting Abbots to supply more housing over the next 10 years, this could well be a problem.

Katrina Misses Out On Hertfordshire Crown

ImageA local student has missed out on winning Miss Hertfordshire 2008 which would have seen her go through and compete for Miss England. Katrina Warmes, 21, of Eastlea Avenue, was one of 30 finalists at the event held on May 11 at the Tewin Bury Farm Hotel in Welwyn.

£100 Fine For Waste Offenders ?

ImageFamilies around Three Rivers could be hit with fines of up to £100 if they do not recycle their waste correctly. Three Rivers District Council announced last month that is plans to clamp down on persistent offenders by using powers handed out in 2005 to issue a higher number of fixed penalty notices to people who continue to ignore its strict rules.

Sian a Celeb For The Day

ImageA four-year-old Abbots Langley girl was mixing it with the stars last month after being invited to a celebrity filled charity event. Sian Moorcroft, who is well known to regular readers of My Abbots, suffers from Intermediate (Type II) Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), which has left her unable to walk or stand due to the weakened structure of her muscles.
