OUT WITH THE ROE IN WITH THE YOUNG
ImageLast month saw the head of the parish council change hands after Councillor Ivy Young took over from Councillor Owen Roe. Councillor Young, who was Chairperson of the council just over 10 years ago, has already taken up her role as head of council after spending 2007/2008 as Roe’s Vice Chairperson
The Leavesden Ward Councillor will now have the responsibility of overseeing the council in a supervisory position, while also maintaining her duties as a ward councillor. She told My Abbots: “I hope that over the next year we see an overall improvement throughout the parish, and to do this we will have to work in conjunction with Three Rivers District Council. Seeing as Ivy has already been Chairperson for the council, My Abbots asked how she felt her previous experience would be useful this time round. She said: “I think to a degree once you have been chair it does give you an insight into what to expect.” Councillor Roe will of course continue as a representative for the ward of Tanners Wood after a year in which he proved a popular Chairman to the council. “Despite not having been a councillor for very long, Owen did a very good job,” said Ivy. My Abbots would like to wish Councillor Young the very best of luck for the forthcoming year. No doubt it will be a busy one for all concerned on our local council.
