Controversial plans to build 4,000 new houses in Three Rivers could see a number of new properties pop up in Abbots Langley. A local area forum held at Woodlands YMCA, College Road, was attended by planning officer, Renato Messere, from Three Rivers District Council, and he outlined the potential sites that new houses could be built.
Vandals caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to an outdoor gym just hours after it was opened earlier this month. The outdoor facility, which sits just behind Woodlands YMCA in Leavesden Park, has seen around £500 worth of damage caused to the equipment, which was opened for members of the community to use free of charge.
Due to popular demand, the 318 bus route is set to extend its service to its customers. The route, which links Abbots Langley with Watford town Centre, has proved to be a winner with the residents of Abbots, so much so that Mullany’s, the operating firm for the service, has decided to extend it.
A pupil from Parmiter’s represented her country in the European Netball Championships last week after being called into the England’s Under-19 side. Abigail Lambden, 18, of Abbots Langley, played for her country in Glasgow in the European Under-21 Championships after progressing through the national setup for the previous two years.
Abbots Langley Parish Councillor, Ivy Young, is due to come to the end of her year as Chairman of the council and My Abbots News spoke to her just weeks before she stepped down. Councillor Young, whose term on the parish comes to an on 2010, looked back over her year with great pride, and now hands over the hammer to the next Chairman, who is likely to be Councillor David Major.
