Due to popular demand, the 318 bus route is set to extend its service to its customers. The route, which links Abbots Langley with Watford town Centre, has proved to be a winner with the residents of Abbots, so much so that Mullany’s, the operating firm for the service, has decided to extend it.
The new timetable is set to launch on April 18th and will see the bus running every Saturday. From April 20th three new times will be in operation; the 8.25am towards Watford, the 9.05am and the 18.15pm in the direction of Abbots Langley. My Abbots News spoke to Kevin Crawford, Director of Mullany’s, about the new plans. He said: “When Mullany’s took over the service we promised that we would work with the local community to provide them with the service that they want. After sending out questionnaires to our customers it was found that what they required most was a Saturday service. We have also extended our offer of ‘two for a £1’ for kids which will not only run during the school holiday period but will also extend to Saturdays.” Many residents had fought to save the ailing service when company Metroline withdrew its ownership because of the current economic situation. Watford Labour MP, Claire Ward, who campaigned to save it, also welcomed news of the new service.
