COUNCILLOR STEPS DOWN DUE TO ILLNESS
ImageThree Rivers District Councillor and Abbots Langley Parish Councillor Sue Bartrick who represented Leavesden ward on both councils has stood down due to illness. Councillor Bartrick who represented the Liberal Democrats, resigned from both councils recently confirming that she was been treated for terminal cancer since last year and was now finding it more difficult to make meetings and attend to residents issues.

RESIDENTS PRAISES WORK OF PARK RANGER
ImageA local resident has praised the work of a park ranger who has helped to maintain Leavesden Country Park. Martin Brooks, a native Englishman who has spent most of his life in America, was tasked with looking after Leavesdon Park both North and South when he took on the role six months ago.

OUTDOOR GYM OFFICIALLY OPENS
ImageResidents in Abbots Langley can get fit in the sun this summer after a new outdoor gym officially opened to the public. The fitness facility, located in the grounds of Leavesden Country Park, College Road, was opened by Three Rivers District Council Chairman Chris Lloyd, in front of residents, councillors and the media.

ABBOTS MAN COMPLETES TOUGH MARATHON
ImageAn Abbots Langley resident beat the pain of pounding 26.2 miles of concrete to complete his first Marathon last month. Simon Fellows, 25, of the High Street, joined over 20,000 other runners in completing the inaugural London Marathon, finishing in a respectable five hours and two minutes.

CUSTOMER CONFUSION OVER EARLY CLOSING DAY
ImageA local shopkeeper has questioned the decision of his fellow traders on the High Street who close early on a Wednesday. Jeff Hill, of Sheffield’s Electrical Store, is one of only a few shops on Abbots Langley High Street that remains open on a Wednesday afternoon, with many choosing to close at lunchtime for the remainder of the working day.
