COUNCILLOR STEPS DOWN DUE TO ILLNESS
ImageThree Rivers District Councillor and Abbots Langley Parish Councillor Sue Bartrick who represented Leavesden ward on both councils has stood down due to illness. Councillor Bartrick who represented the Liberal Democrats, resigned from both councils recently confirming that she was been treated for terminal cancer since last year and was now finding it more difficult to make meetings and attend to residents issues.
Cllr Bartrick was elected the Parish council six years ago and to Three Rivers Council in 2004 and was re-elected last year with over 70% of the vote. She had served as Vice Chairman of the Leisure and Community Safety Committee at Three Rivers. Cllr Bartrick's husband Cllr Stephen Giles-Medhurst also represents Leavesden ward on the council, as does her daughter Cllr Kate Turner. Both of them supported her decision to stand down at this time which will mean by-elections the same day as the county council elections on June 4th.
Councillor Bartrick wrote the following letter to residents within her ward.
